This is a case study on traffic infringements being partially discharged.
Our client incurred $115,541.80 worth of unpaid fines which she had accrued between 2010 and 2015. These included unpaid toll road, parking, and traffic infringement fines. Our client was a single parent who only worked casual hours after a bullying incident at work. She was on the brink of losing her house to the bank and was generally struggling to meet the daily living expenses of her family.
Sophie Stafford represented the client at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court.
After hearing about our client’s personal circumstances at the time of incurring the fines and in the time since, and after considering written references from character witnesses, the court was persuaded to discharge $77,026 worth of the fines, leaving one-third to be paid via a payment plan of $70 per month.
This was a successful result: infringements partially discharged by approximately 2/3 of the original amount.
